frustration

I'm a wee bit frustrated today. Surprisingly it has nothing to do with work. (imagine that?) I don't think I mentioned (maybe I did?) that I started doing Ripped in 30 by Jillian Michaels. I have been doing that at least 4 days a week, plus walking and dancing (we have dance parties at our house, and yes I am dripping with sweat during and after!) and other types of work outs. I also have been eating the same, if not healthier, I pretty much regularly eat healthy anyway, always cooking healthy, whole food meals. Today, I was feeling good, thinking I look a little leaner, I've worked out all weekend, even BEFORE church on Sunday, and decided to step on that dreaded scale in our break room and about fell over when I saw what it said. I don't meant that in a good way. I've gained weight. FRUSTRATION. Pure and simple frustration.

I was supposed to lose weight before my big vacation, not keep putting on weight. The more I work out, the more I seem to gain. I just can't figure it out. My clothes fit the same, and ACTUALLY, I tried on shorts this weekend that were a size SMALLER than I normally wear and they fit perfectly. I know it's only a number, but it's still frustrating to work so hard and try so hard and seem to be going the opposite direction then intended.

I think I need to find another scale.

Side note: This weekend was fantastic! I will post some pictures tomorrow!

  1. I know it's frustrating, but maybe you're gaining some muscle (as the saying goes - "muscle weighs more than fat")? I'd say that's a definite possibility, especially if you are in the same or smaller clothing sizes. Gotta keep things in perspective. Don't let the pesky scale get you down! :)

It was great to see you this weekend. Don't post any pictures of me. Mmmkay? xoxo

  2. First, you could be gaining muscle?! Or replacing the fat you are losing with muscle you are gaining. Make sense? Second, are you drinking enough water? You should be drinking half of your weight in ounces. (i.e. if you weight 200 pounds you need to drink 100 ounces a day. If you weight 150, you need to be drinking 75 ounces.) MANY people are dehydrated and it keeps the weight on. Plus, if you are working out and sweating, you need even more water to replace that. Yes, you will pee like crazy, but it is how it's suppose to be. Try it for 2 weeks and see what happens.

  3. You could have just gained muscle weight from getting more toned. :) Hang in there!
