Oh my!

Well it's official, Molly has her first tooth! I thought she might be teething around Christmas, but still thought that was a bit early, she was only 2 months then. And now lately she's been pretty sick, congestion, runny nose, coughing with mucus and slight fever. Turns out yesterday her tooth popped through. I went to go pick her up at my mom's house and she told me to look. I of course tried, but she wasn't liking me pulling her lips down to look, all I really had to do was feel anyway. Sure enough, I felt a sharp tip on her lower right side...that's right, not just the lower side, but the lower right side. Her first tooth is one of her incisor teeth!

It's not coming up straight through the gums, but at the side of the gums. I'm a bit worried that it won't correct itself and come up straight. I would hate to have to get the tooth removed when her new tooth starts to come in. If it's not coming in straight the new tooth will come up behind it and not under it to knock it out. Oy. Either way, this explains much of her odd behavior, such as wakin up 3-4 times in the middle of the night, fussy, drooling so much she has to wear a bib constantly and the slight fever. I'm not sure about the coughing and congestion...but it does explain the other stuff. But at 3 months?! I just wasn't ready for teeth yet. Ryan got his first tooth at 5 months, still a bit early, but 3 months is way early. I've heard that it can cause teeth to come in crooked if they get them early..but what can I really do about that? I just hope she gets a mouth full so can switch to 'adult' food earlier and not stay on baby food as long, it's cheaper for her to eat what I'm cooking then to buy baby food.
