ZUMBA!

I'm sure you've heard of it, it's taking the world by storm! I have heard a friend mention Zumba, everyday on Facebook! I have always been curious about it, but figured I would enjoy doing only 30 mins of my Shred instead of 1 hour of Zumba class. My friend from church, Lish asked if I would join in her taking the classes. She really wanted to start and needed a buddy. I was thrilled to find someone to do this with me!

Our first class was last night. I have to say I left the studio DRENCHED and feeling AWESOME! I would rather shake my booty for an hour then do the Shred for 30 minutes! I'm not kidding! Lish and I had so much fun. Of course, there is so much choreography that you have to know and it can go fast at times, but I think for our first time and NOT knowing a single move we did really good...I mean you don't leave drenched if you didn't do anything! My friend who talks about it on FB all day long is now an instructor. She said you burn an average of 600-800 calories and 1000 if you are really intense at it per session. She lost 30lbs in 3 months without changing her eating habits! So I hope that with my eating habits and taking Zumba 3-4 days a week, I'll drop the 20lbs sooner then I hoped and maybe 10lbs more on top of that!

We plan on going again tonight and then maybe again on Friday and for sure on Saturday. They have a Zumba beginners class that goes slow and teaches you the steps--something we will need to know! It's Latin based moves, so you are shaking your women parts and movin' pretty...ummm...sexy?! Jimmy asked if when I get better at it I can show him some moves!

Anyway, if you haven't tried it or heard of it check it out: www.zumba.com
This is something that can easily become addicting and who wouldn't want a work out that you are excited to go to, especially if you are like me and dread working out?!

  1. I've been hearing about Zumba for MONTHS now too... maybe even for a year now. Our gym has it, but the times have never worked out for me. :( Maybe now that I'm working less hours, I'll check and see if I can make any of them. Sounds fun! :)
