Movie Monday

I decided today I will talk about a movie that is not an oldie, but still a goodie!
Believe it or not, there are still people out there who have not seen this movie.

"500 Days of Summer" (2009)

Main characters: Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (swoon!)

Storyline: Basically you have this young guy who works at a Greeting Card company, which he's actually pretty successful at, he notices the new girl at work, Summer (Deschanel) and is instantly smitten with her. They end up going out after work with a few other co-workers to a karaoke bar and she reveals she doesn't believe in Love and is not looking for anything serious, as people can't stay monogamous. Tom (Gordon-Levitt) of course falls instantly in Love with her.

(yes there is an awesome singing/dancing sequence!)

They end up having a relationship that is fun, romantic, crazy, lovable..all the while Tom is falling more in love with her. Summer, she isn't ready for a relationship and isn't interested in continuing it further.

Tom's heart breaks...and he ends up in this catatonic state where nothing matters to him, but Summer. Months pass, she quits her job at the Greeting Card company, Tom's work suffers and they eventually meet up at a co-worker's wedding. He imagines them getting back together, skipping off into the sunset.

She, she is engaged. You'll have to see it to see the end of the movie, where Summer turns to Autumn.

Plus, PLUS He's in it.

My Review: Bottom line, I LOVED this movie. I love the indie feel to it, Zooey's clothes, their relationship, the fun they had, they way they just laid in bed starring into each other's eyes. I also loved how it was REAL. It wasn't a predictable happy ending. The boy didn't get the girl, it didn't turn out Happily Ever After, because LIFE doesn't always turn out that way. Which is probably why I loved this movie so much. If you love the indie feel, a great cast and a great "love" story, then you should really see this movie. I will say there is a few scenes that are not for everyone and the F word (once) other than that, it's one of my favorite movies. Oh, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in it, did I mention that?

happy viewing!
